Joey is a communications strategist with a track record of helping clients navigate complex media challenges and shape public perception. As a director and co-founder of Grapevine Strategies, he advises organizations on high-stakes communications, reputation management, and strategic positioning in an evolving media landscape.
Before launching Grapevine, Joey led day-to-day operations at one of the largest crisis communications firms on the West Coast, managing campaigns for high-profile clients across industries. He previously served as Communications Officer to UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advocate Forest Whitaker, where he worked on international advocacy and global policy initiatives. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Governor of Oregon, the American Chamber of Commerce in China and the Senate Democratic Leadership Fund (SDLF).

RYAN PAINTER

Ryan is an experienced writer, editor, and communications strategist who founded Grapevine Strategies to help clients achieve real wins in today’s shifting media landscape. Ryan has written more than a half-million words of high-impact copy, speeches, statements, reports, and other long-form content for clients around the world.
Prior to founding Grapevine, Ryan led the crisis communications and reputation management practices at one of the West Coast’s largest crisis PR firms, where he was among the youngest communications executives in Los Angeles. Ryan has also worked as a freelance political reporter and staffer at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
